今日は東京も一面の銀世界です。見慣れた日比谷公園も別世界のようです。

Today, Tokyo is under the snow fall. My favorite place, Hibiya park, is looks like another world.

Small white flowers waiting spring or snow with 6 petals with 3 small and 3 large.
Today, It is reported snow will be falling in Tokyo, the flower might be waiting snow.

スノードロップ、春を告げる花として有名ですが、大小３枚ずつの６枚の花びらにより構成されています。今日は東京も雪が予想されていますが、待雪草の別名の通り、雪を待ってひっそりと咲いているようです。

Flowering in a low hedge, it is not so eye-catching but pink pretty flower makes me gentle feeling.
生垣のなか、低木で目立ちませんが、柔らかなピンクの花に心が和みます。

初夏にオレンジ色の果実を付けるビワ。花は寒い冬に咲かせます。柔かい光の中、厚い緑の葉に守られるように白い花が咲いています。

Loquat, popular fruit in early summer, but a white flower is blooming in such cold winter in gentle light, guarded by thick green leaves.

この時期、花粉を運ぶ虫も少ないので、蜜を食べに来た鳥も授粉を助けるようです。

Since insects are few in this cold season, birds which comes to taste nector can also help pollination.

春を告げる花です。雪国では雪解けの下から花を咲かせる姿が印象的ですが、東京でも枯葉や霜柱の中から黄色い黄色い花がのぞかせると心が躍ります。

Far East Amur adonis (Fukujyuso in Japanese), a flower which tells us spring is coming.In snow area, it is impressive a yellow small flower comes from under the white snow. Even in Tokyo, I am excited to watch it from fallen leaves or frost colums.

井の頭池のかいぼりが行われていて、水を抜いた池の生き物調査が行われています。一度池を干上がらせ掃除した後、在来種だけを池に戻すことにより、水質の改善と生態系の再生を図っていくそうです。
Inokashira pond is now drained and nature investigation is operated. After dried and cleared the bed of the pond, only native species will be released for improving environment and rebirth of native ecosytem.

こうした活動に参加されている方々のおかげで随分、綺麗になってきたそうです。
I would appreciate all people participating such voluntary activities.

Now Japan is in the coldest season. Tokyo is no snow different from northern Japan, but is in very cold days, and bellow zero in morning. A fountain in Hibiya park is frozen in the morning.

寒い日が続く、日本列島です。大雪が続く北日本と違って東京では雪は降っていませんが、それでも朝は氷点下の日々が続いています。日比谷公園の噴水も朝は凍っています。

銀色に輝く三椏（ミツマタ）の蕾が、文字通り３本に分かれした枝の先で揺れています。

昔は和紙を作るのに植えられた三椏も、最近は花を楽しむために植えられることも多いようです。まもなく白やオレンジ色の花が開くでしょう。Silver buds of Mitumata, literally trident or three pronged branch in Japanese, or Oriental Paperbush are shivering on top of each branch. The plant used be cultivated for producing Japanese paper but now a days planted for watching flowers in gardens. White or orange flowers will be opened soon.

冬枯れの石神井公園の三宝寺池のほとりで黄色い花を咲かせる連翹（レンギョウ）、その優しい黄色に少しだけ心が和みます。

At breakfast of 7^th of January, I eat Nanakusagayu, Seven herb rice porridge. It is a Japanese custom with ancestors’ wisdom for resting our stomach which can be tired from the feasting and drinking of New-year’s holidays and replenishing nutrient and vitamin by young herbs in cold winter.

今日は７日、七草粥を頂きます。お正月のご馳走で疲れた胃袋を癒し、野菜不足になりがちな寒中に、新鮮なビタミンと栄養を優しいお粥で頂くのは先人の知恵です。

Seven herbs or vegetables are seri (water dropwort), nazua (shepherd’s purse), gogyo(cudweed), hakobera(chickweed), hotokenoza(henbit), suzuna (turnip) and suzusiro (daikon radish).

春の七草、せり、なずな、ごぎょう、はこべら、ほとけのざ、すずな（蕪）、すずしろ（大根）。
